My Fitness Fix

Last January, I had this plan of getting fit and healthy.  My previous attempts were unsuccessful because I lacked focus and I don’t have any inspiration.  This time, I might say I’m successful.  I planned carefully and all were turning into my favors.  Food and exercise were two of the things I consider the most.  I lost 7 pounds in three months!  I am really so happy with the results.
Here are some of my tips (which I used)
Food:
  1. Cut down rice by 50% (or if applicable by 80%)
  2. Fruits and vegetable everyday
  3. Drink tea
  4. Avoid fast foods and junk foods (don’t need to memorize this; those foods are high in salt and cholesterol. Period)
  5. Avoid sweets and carbonated drinks (just drink water instead or fresh juices)
  6. Replaced white sugar for brown sugar (or muscovado)
  7. Avoid processed foods (esp. hotdogs, tocino and a likes)
  8. Don’t skip breakfast
  9. Opt for low fat milk and no sugar added ice creams (yes you can eat ice cream once in a while)
  10. Follow the food pyramid
  11. Don’t drink Starbucks! (Haha, esp. the frapuccino ‘cause its high in calories!)
  12. Drink Barley J
Exercise:
  1. Running 3K twice a week (I need to practice for a race)
  2. Exercising every other day
  3. Use stairs
  4. Walk often

I just started running this year and I got motivated by joining a marathon.  I registered for 5K run and my Papa and I were practicing during my rest days.  That forced me to run.  Honestly, I’m not really a sporty type of a person but I fell in love with it.  So, find an exercise that you will love to do.  You can do swimming, hiking, playing badminton, yoga etc.  Believe me, dieting alone will not work, you need to work out and sweat a lot!
Being healthy and fit is not just an overnight thing.  You have to be very patient and you must have a gigantic discipline.  Personally, I read different articles and magazines (Women’s Health) for some inputs on proper dieting.
You cannot just say that I will not eat today because I’m on diet.  The tendency is you will just eat more because you are hungry.  Moderation is also the key.  If you can’t really “avoid” those “sinful” foods, ate in moderation.  This will help a lot.
Just remember this:  balanced diet + exercise = healthy and fit you!
Happy summer!

Reminiscing DALIM3

Last July of this year, David Archuleta came back in Manila for the third time to promote his third album, The Other Side Of Down. Here's my entry for a contest for a chance to win a signed TOSOD poster.

Tell us your favorite song on The Other Side Of Down (Asian Tour Edition) and why?

                                                  My Kind of Perfect

I can still remember how passionate and heartfelt David sang this song in Araneta Colesium. Honestly, this is not my “super” favorite of all the TOSOD songs (I love all his songs but My Kind of Perfect is not my “uber” favorite one). But when I heard David sang this live, I was moved and I started to like it. Up to now, I remember myself staring at him so carefully at the big screen, (he was sooo gorgeous as he conveyed the message of the song while playing with the piano) while listening to the lyrics and almost grasping every word of it. It was magical, surreal. I felt like I was in another dimension of the world.  I will never forget that moment ever in my life.  I almost got teary-eyed after hearing that song.

It just shows how talented David is when it comes to writing songs and bringing them into life.  He is so positive and he writes them not just to create beautiful music but to inspire people. I feel how he pours his heart to this song. Many people can relate to this especially those who haven’t found yet their true love. David tells us how to be patient, to be sensitive and to give our love to the one who deserves the most.  Love is the most beautiful gift from God. Without love, we are incomplete.

**Thank you so much David for sharing your music and for continually inspiring us. From the bottom of my heart, you’re “My Kind of Perfect.” We love you so much. **
